Rodney “Rod” D. Wilson, 55, President of Air Capital Interiors, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021. Visitation, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18, at Downing & Lahey Mortuary West Chapel. Funeral Service, 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 19, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Rod was an avid believer of mask-wearing during COVID, so please follow his wishes and wear a mask. Rod was born and raised in Goodland, Kansas. At a young age, he participated in Little Britches Rodeo events. As he got older, his love of playing baseball took over and he played on the American Legion Team. After high school graduation, he attended Kansas State University where he received his Economics degree and met Denise. They moved to Wichita after graduation, and both worked for Cessna Aircraft. They were married on June 30, 1990. Rod decided a few years later to finish his Master’s of Business degree from Wichita State University and Denise did the same. Their son Corey was born in February of 1997 and Corey quickly became Rod’s greatest joy. In 2003, Rod and family moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin where Rod worked for Schneider National as a process expert. In 2006, however, the family was missing their Kansas home and moved back to Wichita where Rod worked for DeCrane. After DeCrane went through multiple acquisitions, Rod, along with his new friends and partners, started Air Capital Interiors. It was here that he was truly happy, because he could provide the high level of Customer focus that he thought all people deserved. He wasn’t a large group people person, but connected with so many people one-on-one. Rod was an avid sports fan; baseball card collector; board game/domino/card game player; he was meticulous in taking care of his yard; and will be sorely missed as the washer of supper dishes. Rod was a huge Kansas State University fan and watched football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and any other games. You could find Rod tailgating before the games with his family and friends under a KSU tent where he was truly himself. EMAW! Preceded in death by brothers, Brad and Eddie Wilson. Survivors: wife, Denise; son, Corey Wilson; parents, Bill and Roberta Wilson; sister, Nyla (Brent) Milleson; sister-in-law, Jamie Wilson; in-laws, Loren and Barbara Rohloff; sister-in-law, Shari (Kent) Duensing; brother-in-law, Robin (Arlisa) Rohloff; many nieces and nephews. Memorials have been established with Wichita Children’s Home and KSU Foundation.

Memories Timeline

Guestbook

  1. We were lucky – coming from a small town that supported us, families that loved us (despite the bonehead things we did) and friendships that lasted all this time.. You’ll be so missed, Rod. This world has lost a very good man.

  2. Corey, I am so sorry for your loss, Suzy and I are trying to come to the service on Monday. Call if you need anything.

  3. So sorry to learn of Rod’s passing. Many memories of him as a student in my classes at Goodland High School. At about a heavy 150 pounds he was a powerful center for the Cowboys football team. I can always laugh when I remember his portrayal of Evil Eye in the musical Little Abner. As our paths crossed over the years he would always greet me with his infectious grin & powerful hand shake. My sympathy to all his family.

  4. Oh my dear friend Brad…the memories of when we would go watch our sisters, Dana and Nyla at state basketball in Salina, playing ball all day everyday will forever be cherished. When you walked in my backyard for our class reunion I about burst into tears , and will forever cherish that day we all sat around and talked and reminisced our memories! May GOD wrap his arms around you my friend! Till we meet again❤️
