Service, 10 A.M., Fri., Mar. 7, Ascension Lutheran Church, 842 N. Tyler. Graveside service will follow, 3 P.M., St. John Cemetery in Russell. Born July 30, 1927 in Barton County, KS, Ed worked many years at Misco Industries, retired from USD 259, and was an active member of Ascension Lutheran. Preceded by parents, Ed Lena; brothers, Leonard Donald; sisters, Edna Orebaugh Alverna Holopirek. Survivors: loving wife of 59 years, Norma; children, Karen (Roger) Schlechte of Lakewood, CO, Karla (Scott) Hamilton of Derby, Kaelene (Tyrone) Artz of Valley Center, Kirk (Gina) Jurgensen, Kevin (Kim) Jurgensen, all of Wichita; grandchildren, Tammy (Chris) Greiving, Heather (Bobby) Nixon, Iain Abby McHugh, Mycah Daxton Jurgensen, Baylie Caleb Jurgensen, Kevin Lamm, Ryan (Flower) Souter, Amanda Souter; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Tara, Tessa Greiving, Ali Sanchez, Keagan Nixon, Brayden Souter; great-great-grandson, Landon Greiving; brother, Merle (Almeda) Jurgensen; numerous nieces, nephews, friends. Hi Norma, Per our conversation here is the Sloppy Joe recipe you requested that was served at the Funeral Luncheon. The recipe is by Kim Fisher. Serves 68 (2lb. Hamburger=17 servings) Cook and drain the following: 8lb. Hamburger at least 80/20 1/3 cup minced onion In a large roaster combine hamburger/onion and the following: 2–26 oz. Family size Chicken Rice Soup 2–26 oz. cans water 1–#10 Can (115 oz.) Ketchup 2 packages Sloppy Joe Seasoning Mix 4 cups Minute Rice Let me know if you have any questions on it.
