Matthews, Bruce Erik, 42, NetApp software engineer, passed away Saturday, August 4, 2012. Bruce was his wife’s best friend, his children’s hero, was loved by all and inspired all who knew him. Devotion to God, people, adventure, fun and the Pittsburgh Steelers defined Bruce. Visitation, 7-8:30 p.m., Friday, August 10, Downing & Lahey Mortuary West. A private family interment will be followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 11, Central Community Church. Preceded in death by mother, Joan Walls. Survivors: wife, Laura Matthews; children, Gavin and Graci Matthews, all of the home; father and step-mother, Howard and Karen Matthews of Davidsville, PA; brothers, Steve Matthews (Jane) of Johnstown, PA, Doug Matthews (Laurie) of Navarre, FL; grandmother, Buelah Walls of Johnstown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Bruce Matthews Memorial Fund, c/o Emprise Bank, 8807 W. Central, Wichita, KS 67212.
