Life Legacy

Davis, Dr. Mark Ronald, of Wichita, KS passed away on June 18, 2013, at the age of 55 years old after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Mark was born on July 9, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating from Southeast H.S. in 1975, he completed his bachelors of science in Chemistry from Wichita State University in 1979 and his D.D.S. from the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1984. Mark married the love of his life, Susan Leigh Peters, in 1981 and they are blessed with two wonderful daughters, Kelli Lyn Cohlmia (Austen) and Kensi Ann Hurst (Daniel). Mark practiced dentistry in Wichita for 29 years with his father, Dr. Ronald R. Davis, and was not only the Wichita State Shockers’ team dentist but a lifelong fan as well. Mark was an avid reader who seemed to remember everything he read and had a love of the Scriptures and history. He considered his practice a ministry and his patients his friends. A loving husband and father, Mark’s life was characterized by devotion to family, friends, and steadfast faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He inspired others by his example and considered his final battle with cancer to be an opportunity to continue to share the love of Christ with others, serve as a witness of Jesus to everyone God put in his path, and to bring glory to God. He is preceded in death by his sister, Carla Dorothy Davis. He is survived by his parents, Dr. Ronald and Corinne (Miller) Davis; brother, Alan and Beth (Herzet) Davis; niece, Abby (Davis) and Tyler Madison; nephews, Christian and Drew Davis; and brother, Steve Davis. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Downing & Lahey Mortuary East. A celebration of life is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Friday, June 21, at Eastminster Presbyterian Church (1958 N. Webb Road in Wichita, KS). Burial following at Kensington Gardens. Memorials are established at Harry Hynes Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202, and Metropolitan East Baptist Church, 333 N. 143rd St. E., Wichita, KS 67230.
