Grief Recovery

At Downing & Lahey Mortuaries & Crematory, our care and concern for you lasts long after the service is over.

We know that the process of moving through grief is complicated. And often, a long journey, only just beginning at the time of the funeral services. As you and your family move from grief (the inward and personal experience of loss) through mourning (the outward expression of loss) toward your new normal, we hope some of the resources offered here will assist you.

From author, educator, and grief counselor Dr. Alan Wolfelt, we are pleased to offer you a library of short articles entitled “GriefWords.” Covering many topics, these articles are helpful to those who have lost a family member and to well-meaning friends, colleagues, and acquaintances who want to offer words of comfort and support but don’t know how.
