Having grown up around the family business, Tom Morris often had the privilege of witnessing the gentle and compassionate care given to client families by both his father and grandfather. So when he joined Downing & Lahey Mortuary as a funeral director and embalmer in 1986 -- the fourth generation of his family to do so Tom was able to put those experiences to use in his work with families feeling the loss of a loved one.
Drawing from a strong foundation of family experience, Tom always puts the needs and desires of the families he serves first. He recognizes the difficulties families are faced with when dealing with a loss, and sees his role as a compassionate friend and advisor.
Putting family first is a way of life for Tom, both professionally and personally. As president of Downing & Lahey, he ensures that the firm maintains its strong tradition of service, while remaining current with new changes and developments in the industry. At home, Tom and his wife, Jennifer, keep busy raising their three children.
An active person, Tom doesn't see his career as a desk job, preferring instead to get involved in his community and with the families he serves. He is a member of the East Side Rotary Club, the Wichita Crime Commission, and past president of the Downtown YMCA Men's Club. In 2001, Tom was also honored as one of Wichita's "40 Under 40". In his spare time, he enjoys golf and woodworking.
