Following up with Downing & Lahey client families after funeral services have been held, Marlane Morris often hears positive feedback from those the mortuary has helped in their time of need. Yet these comments are hardly surprising to Marlane, who has helped Downing & Lahey meet the special needs of families for more than 25 years.
As Secretary/Treasurer of Downing & Lahey, Marlane also handles payroll functions and coordinates VA and other benefit programs. But her first priority is always the families Downing & Lahey serves. Marlane believes Downing & Lahey's commitment to helping client families of all faiths say goodbye to their loved ones with dignity is key to the mortuary's success and longevity. She's proud of the dedicated and experienced staff she works with, and credits them with creating an atmosphere in which the family's wishes always come first.
Family, of course, is important to Marlane. She and her husband, Jack (Downing & Lahey's CEO), have been married for 47 years. And since one of their five children, Tom, is a funeral director for Downing & Lahey, the business has truly become a family affair. In her spare time, Marlane enjoys spending time with her 14 grandchildren and a variety of hobbies, including arts and crafts, golf, reading, gardening, decorating and travel. She is also a member of Executive Women International.
