Al Cody is dedicated to meeting the individual needs of each family he serves, and firmly believes that Downing & Lahey is the best place for him to do so. After all, Downing & Lahey has the largest staff of funeral directors in Wichita, allowing them to spend more time with families to discover exactly what will make the funeral service unique to truly reflect the spirit and personality of their loved one.

Al's dedication was nurtured in college when he worked part-time for a Winfield, Kansas, mortuary. Discovering that he was able to empathize with families experiencing a loss and deal compassionately with their grief, Al chose to attend mortuary college in Kansas City, Kansas. After graduating in 1993, he worked for another mortuary before joining Downing & Lahey in 1995. Al says he chose Downing & Lahey because it was a family-owned mortuary with a well-established reputation for personalized service.

At Downing & Lahey, Al performs a variety of services, including helping families with pre-arrangements, working with families to make funeral arrangements for loved ones who have passed, and taking part in services to ensure everything goes smoothly. Wen he's not working, he spends time with his wife, Jennifer, a fourth grade teacher at Garfield Elementary School in Augusta, and their three children, Ashtyn, Morgyn and Gracyn.
